Alternative Business Structures and Procure Co

The Trust favours projects put forward by those actively involved in legal practice – often young practitioners. It is now seeking applications for its 2011 awards. IDS Talk – Leeds, 20th May

On 20th May, before the ELA/ELBA Dinner, President Underhill will be addressing the Industrial Law Society at 6.00 p.m., 3 Albion Place, Leeds LS1 6JL. The ILS has kindly agreed that ELBA members may attend without payment.

The title of the talk has yet to be announced.

ELBA Advocacy Training

On the 24 March 2010 ELBA will run small group advocacy training, based upon a mock interim application in the employment tribunal. The course is designed for pupils and junior tenants.

The course is free of charge, but space is limited to a maximum of 24 participants. Some preparation will be necessary to get the most out of the course. Course papers will be sent out one week in advance of the course

Northern Dinner

This year’s joint ELA/ELBA Northern Dinner will take place on 20 May 2010 at 7.15pm (for 7.30) at Anthony’s at Flannels, Vicar Lane Leeds.

We are delighted that Mr Justice Underhill, President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal has agreed to be our guest speaker.

The cost will be £70 per head. Members will note that this is the first increase in the cost since these dinners were first arranged.”

Speaker Programme

We’re happy to announce two events for the 2010 speaker programme.

On 28th April Selwyn Bloch QC will be addressing us on restrictive covenants. Then on 25th May at our AGM Lord Justice Mummery will address us on ‘Employment Law: the Contrary Experience’.

Both events will be in the Spy Room at Gray’s Inn, starting at 6pm.
